I will remember

I have never lost someone to the horrors of war.
But I remember visiting an old  couple (friends of my parents) when I was young.
And they told us how their was born in the concentration camp.
And how the women would put the babies in shoeboxes instead of cribs.
And how the women would take turns staying awake during the night
to keep the rats from gnawing on their children as they slept.
Least we forget.
